Tell us: have you experienced issues with extending leases or high ground rents?

The government’s leasehold reform bill, which aims to make it easier and cheaper for leaseholders in houses and flats in England and Wales to extend their lease and buy the freehold is at committee scrutiny stage. The bill will also ban leaseholds on newly built houses – but not flats in England and Wales.

MPs have criticised freeholders in England and Wales for charging “exorbitant” ground rents of up to £8,000 a year.

We would like to hear from people who have had issues trying to extend leases or change to a freehold – either due to the expense or other difficulties. We would also like to hear from those experiencing expensive ground rents.
